Alan Mullery
Alan's extraordinary rise to fame in the world of professional football began at the age of fifteen when he left school to join Fulham FC as a groundstaff boy. Within two months he was signed up as a professional player, and five years later moved to Tottenham Hotspur for a record transfer fee of £72,500.
Becoming captain of Spurs in 1967, Alan played against Chelsea in the 1967 FA Cup Final, against Aston Villa in the 1970 Coca Cola Cup Final and in 1972, the UEFA Cup Final. By this time, Alan had also captained for England, notching up a total of 35 England caps.
Alan was named 'Footballer of the Year' in 1975, and awarded an MBE for his services to the sport. He became Manager of Brighton Football Club in 1976, and after this he became Manager of Charlton, Crystal Palace and QPR. Alan is no stranger to radio and television audiences as a match commentator and Sky Pundit, and is also in great demand as an after-dinner speaker.
Alan loves to explain his faith and the difference that knowing Jesus has made to his life as a sportsman.
