Kym Mazelle

Raised in Gary, Indiana, Kym Mazelle grew up a mere stone's throw from The Jackson Family's recording studio and label, though her route to stardom couldn't have been more different.

Initially setting out to become a Diva!!, Kym studied Opera at Mundelein College of Music in Chicago.

Working in the Lyric Opera House Chicago, Kym quickly realised she would have to take a different path into music. "I wanted to be part of the creative process, performing as well as writing, and getting the crowd going with fun and energy."

Shortly thereafter Kym was introduced to Marshall Jefferson – fellow House Music Pioneer. Yes, Kym Mazelle is one the first female pioneers of House music – though not always credited for it, her early hits prove it, with "Useless (I Don't Need You Now)", followed by her top 10 smash hit single "Wait" with Dr. Robert of the Blow Monkeys.

Touring Europe her live performances were even more dynamic than the recordings and helped to establish a huge following to this date. A collaboration with Soul 2 Soul produced the world-wide hit single "Missing You" which Kym co-wrote and appeared on their Vol. 2 1990 A New Decade album. Kym's writing credits on the album and appearances on the Soul 2 Soul World Tour drew more attention to her unique talents.

Her UK album "Crazy" led to the release of Kym's US debut album Brilliant!!, which included collaborations with some of America's leading producers – C&C Music Factory, Steve Hurley, Ric Wake, David Morales, Frankie Knuckle, etc. Another collboration with Rapination produced the US top 20 hit "Love Me The Right Way".

Moving on, in the mid 90's another colloration with Jocelyn Brown and Simon Cowell produced 2 singles "Enough Is Enough" and "Give Me All Your Lovin". Kym scored another Top 10 with her cover of "Young Hearts Run Free", produced by Nellee Hooper from the Grammy nominated Multi-Platinum Soundtrack to Baz Lurhman's "Romeo & Juliet".

Since then, Kym Mazelle's powerful R&B vocals, coupled with her energetic style and great stage personality have established her amongst the pantheon of global Dance/Pop Artists.

In 2005 Kym released her Itialian album "The Pleasure Is All Mine", also appeared on ITV's Celebrity Fit Club 10 wks tour UK and debuted her own live music night "Me & My Big Mouth" which featured live Chicago Style Blues.

Kym has also appeared on countless television shows including: Celebrity Weakest Link, BBC TV Series Trainer, at least 20 appearence on Top Of The Pops, Jools Holland Show, MoBo Awards, Terry Wogan Show, Richard and Judy Show etc, and has graced the stage and recorded with such world class artists and producers including Mick Jagger, Chaka Khan, Maceo Parker, The JB Horns, Jazzie B & Soul 2 Soul, Van Morrison, R. Kelly, Boy George, Joaquin Cortes, Grace Jones, amongst others. You will also recognise her distinctive voice in numerous TV commericals.

2008 and she's on a roll again. Featuring in the theatre/cabaret La Bamba with one of Spain's premiere film directors Mr. Bigas Luna starring in Spain. One of the featured Divas in the Nov/Dec 08 id magazine. December Miami showcase with Miss Naomi Campell for the Art Basil Retrospctive Naomi Photo Expo and a new single on the way "Here Come's The Light". You Go Girl!!!

2009 - BBC's Celebrity Scissorhands for Children In Need, 5 month's European Dance Tour, various live shows and TV appearances, BBC Radio 2 friday nite live show with a 50 piece Orchestra at the Mermaid Theatre air New Years Day 2010.

Kym takes an evening of secular and contemporary/traditional gospel music along with her amazing testimony of how God turned her away from drugs to find a vibrant Christian faith.
